The latest Xbox update brings a 4K dashboard, night more, and more

Microsoft’s October update for the Xbox Series X includes the long-awaited jump to a native 4K resolution dashboard. Previously, the system software upscaled 1080p to 4K, by which enthusiasts, including several people who work for The Verge, were not totally satisfied.

Now, you can endlessly stare at the TV in true 4K wondering what to play or watch while time slips you by.

The new 4K dashboard on Series X will bring a more crisp interface, among other elements.

Apple hires BMW veteran in latest sign of electric car push

Apple has hired Ulrich Kranz, a former senior executive at BMW who focused on electric cars, Apple confirmed to CNBC’s Phil LeBeau on Thursday.

The hire is the latest sign that Apple is serious about building an electric car to compete with automakers such as Tesla.

Hyundai said earlier this year it was in talks with Apple to manufacture its car before walking its comments back and confirming it was no longer in discussions.

Our test of a 2021 BMW M550i xDrive showed the car fell significantly short of BMW’s claimed zero-to-60-mph time of 3.6 seconds. We alerted BMW to the discrepancy. The company eventually deduced that a software problem was causing a communication error between the car’s stability control system and its engine computer, which caused turbocharger boost pressure to drop.
